Lavishly elegant Italian art glass smoking accessories.
Wonderful smoke set from 1940s-1950s Italy. Lighter base is stamped “ITALY”. Set consists of a lidded cigarette / stash box, a ball lighter, a small tumbler shaped cigarette holder, and an ashtray.
All but the tumbler-shaped holder were made with opaque black glass smothered in copper aventurine. The tumbler-shaped holder is made with black amethyst glass, cased in colorless. The tumbler-holder is an older piece (1920s/1930s). The decor matches the set, but this item was hand blown, the others where molded. The lighter may be black amethyst also, but the glass is too thick to determine.(black amethyst shows purple under bright standard lighting).
The only wear is found on the metal lighter mechanism. The mechanism needs flint, but is in working shape. The metal is marked “Supreme Automatic Super Lighter – Japan”. lol. Stunning set of luxurious Italian art glass smoking accessories. Great for decor, fun to bring out at parties. Box measures 4.75″ long, 3.75″ wide and 2.5″ deep, weighs 2 lbs. The lighter is 4″ tall, 3.5″ wide, girth of 10″, weighs 1.5 lbs. The black amethyst holder is 3″ tall, 2.5 ” wide, weighs 1/2 lb. The ashtray is 4.25″ x 4″, 1.25″ tall, weighs 1/2 lb.
