Description
Postwar Czech designer ashtray.
Adolf Matura was one of the major art glass designers in postwar Czechoslovakia. The Germans had suppressed new designs in glass, preferring production of old world style functional glass. Once the Germans were ousted, the Czech countries regrouped and began producing stylish modernist glass.
Matura designed for a company called Rosice. This ashtray design was established in 1970. This ashtray is tall and deep, with 12 rests wide enough for cigars. Multiple rest ashtrays are great for parties.
Pressed colorless glass flashed with a bright purplish pink iridescent finish. The iridescent reflects golden shimmers. This item must be hand-washed, never scrubbed, no chemicals. The flash finish will wear off if mistreated.
Items shown in the Big Ashtray Museum are not for sale. Big Ashtray offers a large selection of antique, vintage and retro art ashtrays, plus modern-made ashtrays, for sale in the Big Ashtray shop. Click here to view available items…
