Atomic Era fish ashtrays poised for take-off on three little pegs.
Set of four brass ashtrays shaped like fish, but look a bit like alien disc spacecraft! These special ashtrays reflect the tastes of the late 1940s to late 1950s alien and space age crowd. Fish were essential to the modernistic decor trend, and visitors from outer space were on everyone’s mind.
Estimated 60 to 70 years old, they have a warm glowing patina, but have been chemically cleaned in the past. No corrosion. No damage to the metal. The shiny surface is in very good condition with minimal atmosphere pitting (tiny dots of darker brass caused by elements in the air, nearly invisible).
Each measure 5″ wide by 4″ long, stand just under 1″ tall. These medium-sized ashtrays have one wide rest each and will handle any smoke up to 1/2″ wide. The feet are brass pegs covered with black rubber boots, which are removable. Marked “Made in Taiwan” on back of wing.
