Rare Pair of Smoked Cobalt Blue Ball Ashtrays Made in USA Mid-20th Century

Cobalt blue ball ashtrays made by New Martinsville Glass, USA in the 1930’s – 1940’s.  The company’s name was later changed to Viking Art Glass.

This very rare set is in a distinctive unusual color.  Without light, it looks black.  With lighting you can see it is actually a stunning smokey cobalt blue.  Made of high quality thick-walled vintage glass.  No mold lines. Made by hand.  Both ashtrays were made by the same hand from the same glass batch.  The colors match exactly.

Stunning set.  The large orb measures 7″ round, 4.5″ at tallest.  Big and heavy, weighs just over 3 lbs.  Has two small V rests for smaller smokes with a large1″ wide half-moon rest in the center for cigars.  The small orb measures 4″ round, 3.5″ at tallest, weighs 1 lb and has one small V rest.

Both are in great condition with bottom-wear rings as the only sign of age.  Bottom-wear occurs naturally over time caused by the base rubbing against the surface it sits upon.  It is not considered damage, and cannot be seen unless turned upside down. .Items shown in the Big Ashtray Museum are not for sale.
