Description
Rarely seen Blenko Art Glass ashtray. This is the first we’ve seen in 30 years of ashtray searching!
Stamped rayed star pattern was first shown in Blenko’s 1967 catalog. This ashtray boat form is was shown in the 1967 catalog as part no. 673. The part number tells us the ashtray boat form was the 3rd design of 1967. The pattern was shown in the 1968 catalog in a low console bowl form but fell out of the catalogs after that.
Rare pattern in a very rare shape. Produced for only two years. Designed by Joel Myers. Hand-made with thick turquoise glass, called Blenko Blue by collectors.
Big boat ashtray weighs 3¼ lbs. Measures 8″ long and 6½” at widest. The boat “lists” meaning lean or tilt in sailing terms. One side is 2½” tall, the other side is 2¼” tall. Two hand formed smoke rests accommodate any size smoke. Deep bowl to catch and retain the debris. In like-new condition.
For those who want an ashtray that no one else has, this is it. A must have for serious Blenko collectors.
