Pair of Unusual Higgins Art Glass Ashtrays Decorated with Spider Mums Signed
Unusual set of Higgins art glass ashtrays decorated with Spider Mums and foliage on pink with gold enamel highlights. Rarely seen decor. Both are in fabulous shape and signed Higgins in gold.
Higgins was a popular husband and wife run decorating company during the mid-20th century.
The background is a dark pink rose. It appears darker when sitting on surfaces, brighter with the light shining directly through as you can see in images. A layer of glass covers the bottom layer of glass upon which the decor was hand painted in enamel. The decor will not wear off as it is encased in glass.
Octagon shape. Large ashtray features four 3/4″ level and long rests, the smaller has on .5-inch level and long rest. Large measures 9 inches at widest with 1.75-inch-deep bowl. Smaller measures 6 inches at widest with a 1-inch-deep bowl.
Unique beauties for the garden party. Nearly impossible to find as a set.
