Big chunky ice glass cigar ashtray.
Nice deep well with large flat single rest.Probably made in Finland or Sweden where glass design often imitates Nordic nature. Could have been made by Blenko Art Glass in America as they also produced Scandinavian style glass. Circa 1960s – 1980s.
The glass ‘drips’ off the edges to form icicles. This detail was achieved by pressing the glass into a clay or wooden mold, a method used in the mid 20th century. These organic molds did not last long as the molten glass wore down the details. This ashtray was made early in the mold’s life as the details are sharp and crisp. Big, sturdy ashtray weighs 3 lbs and measures 8″ long, 6″ wide and 2″ tall.
