Description
Grape amethyst glass with aventurine veils give this wonderful vintage Italian glass ash bowl an elegant yet manly allure.
Four pounds of quality glass hand-formed into a deep bowl with three colorless protruding handles and six rest indentions. The gold veil runs through the glass, from rim to rim, but doesn’t show well in the images.
Hefty art glass bowl weighs 4 lbs. Measures 8″ round, 3½” tall. Doubles as a pipe ashtray with tall slanting sides. In the early mid-20th century these versatile Italian bowls were used as ashtrays, catch-alls, flower bowls…and snack bowls.
The colorless crystal contains the mineral Manganese, used to replace lead during WWII until the 1950s. It causes the colorless glass to light-up green under blacklight.
