Description
Mats Jonasson Maleras Glassworks landing Falcon art glass ashtray.
Jonasson was the leader of Maleras Glassworks in Sweden. He employed Scandinavian greats such as Eva Englund, Ingeborg Lundrin & Erika Hoglund. His glassworks are closely associated with Kosta and Orrefors.
Nordic art glass often resembles the area’s nature, in this case, it looks just like ice. The bird, which is a type of falcon, is a detailed, deeply acid etched carving.
This ashtray was made between 1960-1980. It is unsigned, but positively belongs to the Wildlife line designed by Jonasson.
Made of pure, flawless, thick genuine crystal. Inner edges are beveled. Outer walls are slightly frosted, looks like ice.
Measures 4.5″ wide, 1.25″ tall. Rests are small and deep. Perfect for cigs or blunts. The inner surface is smooth, with the deep falcon carving on the reverse.
