Kaj Franck minimalist Finnish designed ashtray with perfect form and function.
Designed by master Kaj Franck with Nuutajarvi (glass house established in 1793). This ashtray was called ‘The Cigaro’. Circa 1960’s to 1970’s. Mid-century modern crystal from Finland.
Some images show this ashtray with the original Nuutajarvi sticker. The Cigaro ashtray offered here does not have the original sticker.
Heavy 2.5 lb ashtray expertly designed to do its job in an elegant unobtrusive manner. Sports 3 cigarette size rests, 2 smaller smokes rests, and one cigar size rest. Whatever you’re smoking, this fine design ashtray can accommodate! Measures 4″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle. Stands 2 5/8″ tall with a 2″ deep well to catch and hold the debris. In excellent condition. Made of quality Scandinavian crystal in excellent condition.
About Kaj Franck – (1911-1989) Born in Vyborg, Finland. Franck is described as the conscience of Finnish design. He removed everything excessive in his designs, leaving only the essentials. Franck has been awarded a large number of Finnish and international awards and prizes and his work has been displayed at a range of design museums around the world. Some of his most famous objects are the Teema tableware and the glass series Kartio.
