Rare 1940s coiled dragon bowl.
This fabulous satin glass dragon bowl hails from Imperial Glass’s “Cathay” line produced in the late 1950s.The Cathay line consisted of a few oriental style decor objects which are all hard to find today. The Dragon Bowl is EXTREMELY hard to find.
Makes a perfect smokes or candle bowl with the dragons coiled body providing ridges. The dragon has horns and trailing behind his head are wings that are folded into his body (hard to see in images).
Thick, heavy, excellent quality vintage Imperial glass with matte satin surface. Flat polished base, no mark. Cathay items were usually signed, some were not. This is not signed. Imperial Glass was an elegant maker of the past, no longer in business. Measures 6″ wide, 2.25″ tall to the tip of dragon’s head, weighs 1.5 lbs.
