Description
Beautiful handblown glass art ashtray with etched numbering on the base.
Made by hand; rolling pulls of white, amethyst and colorless glass together then adding colored glass frit to the colorless layer and swirling as the maker blew out the shape. Completed with hand-tooled rests, hand-polished concave pontil mark, and fire-polishing. It’s a work of art.
Made with quality glass of yesteryear by an upscale maker who etched a numbering system on the base. We don’t recognize the maker’s mark. It is a hand-engraved number “86321″. Traditionally, numbering systems include the year of make and design no. In this case it would be 1986, design 321.
Measures 5¾” rounded and 2¼” Tall. Three rests for cigarettes, smaller cigars and pipe resting. Hefty cased glass weighs 1½ lbs.
Circa estimated 1970 to 1980. Maker unknown, possibly Italian, Czech, or American. In excellent condition.
