Mid-19th Century elegant, quality glass by Tiffin.
Beautiful set of glowing amber ashtrays. The color was called “Golden Banana” by Tiffin Art Glass. The color deepens and lightens according to the lighting, fabulous effect. Very well-made, quality glass. In great condition. One small thin sliver chip on large ashtray rest near inner rim and same on smaller ashtray. Have been professionally smoothed and nearly impossible to detect.
The larger ashtray is cigar sized, deep with fat rests. The smaller ashtray is palm sized with medium rests. Made by Tiffin or Duncan in the 1940s-1950s. Tiffin and Duncan made many of the same designs and colors. Both were popular, elegant glass makers of the day and are no longer in business. Cigar ashtray measures 7″ long, 4.5″ wide and 1.5″ deep. Smaller ashtray is 4″ long, 2.5″ wide and 1″ tall. Outer edge of larger ashtray is beveled.
