Description
Portable cast iron ashtray in the form of a sauce pan with lid. Marked ‘Descoware, Made in Belgium’ on the seat and ‘Belgium’ impressed in the mold beneath the lid.
Descoware was a popular cookware brand in the 1950s and promoted by Julia Childs, a famous T.V. chef of the time. They called this yellow color of porcelain coating ‘Citron’.
This is a salesman free sample, left with the housewife by a traveling salesman. Weighs 1 lb, measures 5.5 inches at widest and 2.5″ tall. Perfect for carrying around inside and outside. Lid keeps the debris and odor inside.
In very good condition. No enamel chips or damage to the cast iron. There are scratches from usage inside the pan on the white enamel.
NOTE: Actual mage color is a mustard yellow. Images make it appear dirty green.
