Description
Rich Cobalt Blue ashtray by Blenko Art Glass made in 1959-1970.
Organic textures and themes were very popular during the Mid-20th Century, originating from the Scandinavian countries where famous artists reflected nature in their designs.
Blenko Art Glass, one of the Fab Five glass studios in Mid-20th Century U.S.A., made their glass objects by hand. Beautiful dark hand-mixed blue glass, called Blenko Blue by collectors, was poured into a clay or wood mold in the form of the lava base. The surface was hand-polished and the long rests were made with hand-tool.
Striking rich cobalt blue ashtray with a mesmerizing form, a sure conversation starter. This ashtray is in very good condition, with some use scratches (see images). The tiny scratches cannot be seen unless examined closely. Priced accordingly.
