Large mid-century modern coffee table ashtray in porcelain by Shawnee.
This big beauty measures 17″ wide diagonally. Back in the day, this ashtray would sit upon the coffee table and serve as a decor focal point. Made in the 1950’s by Shawnee for their high-end Kenwood line.
Made of porcelain with a glaze resembling granite. Spattered with black, real gold and milky-white decor. Unique 3-dimensional glaze is in perfect condition, as bright as the day it was made.
Marked ‘Kenwood USA’ with an unreadable part no. on the black gloss base. The base has a square seat rim glazed with a rough sand-like substance to hold the ashtray above the surface and protect the seat.
Room for the whole gang and whatever they smoke! Center bar has ten ½” wide cradle rests. Perfectly balances cigars and smaller smokes. Sloped inward corners provide pipe rests. Deep well with sloped walls catches and retains the debris. Well designed form and function mid-century modern ashtray,
