Arthur Salm Mid-Century Modern Stainless Steel Ashtray
Arthur Salm (1904–1988) was a German interned in the Dachau Concentration Camp during WWII. Surviving Dachau, he immigrated to the United States in the 1930’s and in 1952 formed his design and decor company in Chicago.
Salm was a designer and reseller of the highest mid-century modern quality. His medium of choice was stainless steel and he is remembered best for table flatware.
This stylish stainless steel ashtray has the Salm brand stamped on the base. Originally it came in a set with matching lighter and bowl. Very hard to find today in such great condition.
The ashtray can accommodate cigars, cigarettes and incense. The retro style center 3-V bar will rest any size smoke. Deep bowl beneath catches the debris. Stands ” tall, ” wide. Circa late 1950s.
