Description
Art Deco Depression glass Wolfhound ashtray with snuffers
Well-preserved ashtray from the 1930’s featuring the Art Deco era’s popular wolfhound décor. The glass looks opaque black. Back in the day black glass was accomplished by using very dark purple or red glass. In this case the color is called ‘Black Amethyst’. When held to the light, glints of purple can be seen.
The detailed hand-forged metal wolfhound is attached to the glass with an original hardware screw as seen in image.
Well-designed for functionality and décor. Three slanted rests accommodate all sizes of smokes. The two holes at the forefront are used for ‘snuffing’ the smokes.
In beautiful condition. It has no chips, cracks or scratches. The wolfhound has slight wear to the black enamel, hardly noticeable. Measures 5″ wide and 5″ long, 2.2″ tall (to top of wolfhound head) and weighs 1 lb.
