1920s desk ashtray in lime citron crystal .
At first glance it would appear to be Uranium/Vaseline glass but it is not. It’s made of 1920s thick cut crystal with a ghosted hint of lime green. Great glass artists from Europe like Heinrich Hoffman provided fine crystal geometric shaped ashtrays like this. We’re not sure which glass house produced this fine specimen, but we are 99% sure it’s of Bohemian origin.
The caddy is made of wood covered with green vinyl-like material and solid brass brackets. Designed to coast easily along the surface. The base is covered with very old felt.
The caddy has protected the stunning deep well ashtray. The edges are bevel cut. Has two wide, deep cradle rests that fit cigars or smaller. The crystal ashtray weighs 1½ lbs, measures 3″ square and 2″ tall. The caddy measures 3½” square. Perfect gift for the executive. Was originally designed as a desk ashtray.
