This set of four dark teal colored crystal ashtrays was produced in the late 1920’s to early 1930’s.
The color, quality of the glass, style and brass holder point to the era of make. High quality colored crystal in this deep blue/green hue was made in the those days. The era was controlled by the alcohol prohibition. Sets of art deco ashtrays like these were set on tables at speakeasy’s (hidden pubs).
Made by one of America’s top elegant glass companies of the time, possibly Heisey or one of the U.S. Glass consortium. companies.
The colored crystal is vibrant and without discoloration or stains. Each ashtray has minute chiggers on the sharp side edges due to 100 years of removing and replacing the ashtrays in the brass holder. The tops and bowls and base are chigger free. The brass holder has nice and even patina with no maker’s mark on the metal.
Each have four ½” slightly raised cradle rests. Holds your smoke well, and rests above bowl. Measure 4″ round.
