Awesome old amethyst pipe ashtray, patented June 1923
This pipe holder tray is approx. 84 years old and in nearly perfect condition. The glass is not scratched, was used minimally. Some wavy lines in glass, caused during the old fashioned process of cooling glass.
It has sat around for many years and heavy, solid bands of bottom-wear are present (normal and expected – can’t be seen unless turned upside down). Embossed on base is “Pat’d June 12, 1923″ (on base of handle). Made from a mold. Measures 6.5″ long, 4″ at widest, and 1 5/8” tall. Weighs 1 lb.
Original patent number: 62,520. Called the “Forbes Pipe Tray”. Made by L.J. Houze Convex Class Company.
