Description
Beautiful vintage Italian glass with colorful murrine and real silver encased in dark ruby and colorless glass.
Italian glass scalloped boat form with internal murrine cane and silver decor. The inner casing is very dark red, appearing black. When held to the light, the top edges of the ruffles will reflect deep dark ruby red. Outer casing is colorless glass. Trapped within the black and colorless glass is the cane and silver decor.
The popular decor style was made by many famous Italian glass makers like Toso, Ferro, Dino Martin, Seguso and more. This hand made beauty still bears its original label which reads “Genuine Venetian Glass, Made in Murano Italy”. The label tells us the bowl was made around 1950. It is a generic sticker used on export glass.
Measures 7″ long, 4.75″ wide and 2″ tall. Dual rests accommodate cigars or smaller. In original condition with a couple internal air bubbles resulting from the hand-crafted process. More ashtrays from mid-century Italy in this decor style are shown in images and are available separately.
Looks gorgeous on the side table. Doubles as a catch-all, incense burner, candle holder, etc. when not in ash service.
