Amber crystal ashtray with exceptional design made with high quality gem-like amber crystal.
Beautiful undulating amber color darkens and lightens according to lighting and angle of view. This vintage crystal is of a quality comparable to Baccarat. We’re are familiar with Baccarat’s rich amber color, and the color and craftsmanship of this ashtray matches Baccarat’s amber crystal qualities. It is not marked. Maker not confirmed.
Having seen thousands of vintage art ashtrays, we can call this shape very rare. It’s the first time we’ve seen anything like it. The modernism style points to the early Mid-20th Century.
Outer and inner edges are beveled, as should be in a fine ashtray. Hand-made of colored leaded crystal. Excellent refractive qualities. A few very tiny air bubbles are trapped within the glass, often found in hand-made glass. This ashtray is in excellent condition.
Each corner has a hand-ground level guide rest. Will accommodate small smokes to large cigars. The smokes resting on the ledge hover over a deep 2″ bowl that catches and retains the debris.
Large ashtray. Thick walled crystal ashtray weighs 2¼ lbs. Measures 8″ long on the longest diagonal line, 6″ on the shortest, 2½” tall. The base is supported by 4 stylized raised points providing surface wear protection.
