Description
Beautiful pine green glass decorated with controlled bubbles and flecks of gold. Superb late 1940s to 1950s Murano styling. Hand formed glass from mid-20th century Italy.
There is much more gold than the images show. The gold is heavy in the center and and thins as it sprays up the walls to the rims. The rich gold fleck decor was blown with the glass and is called “aventurine” or “aventurina”. The controlled bubbles spiral up from the center. The Italians called this technique “Bullicante” and they were masters at this difficult decor.
Wonderful form. Easy to empty. Heavy glass and deep bowl. Weighs just under 3 lbs. Measures 8″ long, 7″ wide and 2.75″ deep. This bowl has heavy bottom-wear, caused by rubbing against surfaces for the past 60 years. Bottom-wear is expected on heavy vintage glass.
