Fascinating solid lead crystal personal cigar rest in the form of a reclining great ape.
Very nice quality, heavy colorless crystal. The great clarity and weight of the crystal was accomplished by adding lead to a pure organic glass batch, known as lead crystal.
Décor and function masterpiece. Wide long level cradle rest can accommodate cigar at all burn levels. The well in the ape’s body is 1.5″ deep and has room for debris and one stubby. Can handle big cigars, the cigar shown in image is 5″ long. Smaller smokes fit too. Can be used as a candle holder, incense burner, clip holder, coin catch, etc., when not in ash service.
Probably made between 1940s – 1960s and of European descent. But…because the form is so unusual it might date back to 1920s. Measures 4.25″ long, 3″ wide, 2.5″ tall and weighs 1 lb.
