There once was a time when cooks had to put a match to the stove to light the burners. The modernization rush of the 1950s brought exciting new advances to household chores like the “Automatic” gas range. Just turn a switch and the burner is on, like magic.
Western Holly made gas ranges in the 1940s-1950s. Image # 3 below is of a Western Holly stove. Salesmen would travel door to door to sell new fancy stoves to the housewives. The salesman would give an ashtray like this to a prospective buyer.
This ashtray is made of stove metal with a wonderful chocolate brown finish. It measures 6.5″ wide.
