Mid-century modern crystal from Finland. Designed by master Kaj Franck with Nuutajarvi (glass house established in 1793) original sticker. This ashtray was called ‘The Cigaro’. Circa 1960s/1970s.
Heavy 2.5 lb ashtray designed to do its job in an elegant unobtrusive manner. Stands 2 5/8″ tall with a 2″ deep well to catch and hold the debris. Sports 3 cigarette size rests, 2 smaller smokes rests, and one cigar size rest. Whatever you’re smoking, this fine design ashtray can accommodate! Measures 4″ x 3 /12″ rectangle.
About Kaj Franck – Source: iittala.com (1911-1989) Born in Vyborg, Finland. Kaj Franck is described as the conscience of Finnish design. He removed everything excessive in his designs, leaving only the essentials. Kaj Franck has been awarded a large number of Finnish and international awards and prizes and his work has been displayed at a range of design museums around the world. Some of his most famous objects are the Teema tableware and the glass series Kartio.
