Rare light purple blown glass controlled bubble ashtray.
Very large and lovely lavender glass ashtray. This color is unusual and scarce. Made by Erickson glass, a famous mid 20th century maker of Scandinavian descent who immigrated to the United States. Erickson glass is top-quality. Hand-blown and hand-finished
Embedded within the glass is a whirlpool of bubbles beginning in the center and whirling out to the inner edges. The bubbles start tiny and gradually enlarge. Pontil mark is polished and concave. Medium bottom-wear on base caused by surface contact over the past 60 years or so. Made around the 1940s – 1950s. Big…weighs 4 lbs. Measures 8″ round and 3″ deep.
