Description
Webbed geometric bullicante art glass from Mid-century Italy. The work of an Italian glass artist master. The precise controlled bubbles, spiraling and diminishing in size to the center, create an absolute eye treat . This effect is very, very hard to do.
Cased within the colorless glass layers are precisely applied dark pink, cranberry stains causing a halo around the bubbles and a faint pillow optic webbed effect.
Which master made it? Sorry, no maker’s mark. But to name a few possibilities; Seguso, Venini, Toso, Salviati.
Room for two of whatever you smoke, both rests are mid-sized (medium width cigars and less). Nice and deep to keep the mess in and to accommodate cigars. Measures 6.75″ long, 5.5″ wide and is 2.25″ tall. Heavy, weighs 3 lbs.
Polished flat base has good bottom wear which is expected of heavy 1950 – 1960s vintage glass. The colorless glass of this unique ashtray bowl glows bright yellow under black light, indicating the use of Manganese, appropriate for 1950s Italian glass.
