Hand made Murano art glass ash bowl from 1950s Italy.
Hand blown Murano glass in bright grape amethyst and neon green with clear. Sommerso glass, all colors were blown together. The clear glass was made with manganese, a mineral used in 1950s, and earlier, Italy to replace lead. Manganese glows under black-light and helps date vintage glass. It is not vaseline glass.
Beautiful bowl in classic modernist style was meant to double as a candle holder, flower dish, etc. when not in ash service. Medium-sized and deep. Measures 5,75″ x 5″ and is 2.5″ deep. Weighs 1.75 lbs.
