Description
Spectacular Italian art glass freeform.
Made on the isle of Murano in Italy during the 1950s. Probably made by A.VE.M (Art Vetraria Muranese, founded in 1932). Unsigned. Looks like the work of Giulio Radi, one of A.VE.M’s most distinguished artists.
Extremely well made. Heavy cased mid-century glass. Tons of silver aventurine. The artist used amethyst with a green oil spot, encased in clear in free-form, a unique shape. The outer layer of clear glass glows pale green under blacklight. This glow reaction is one of the hallmarks of mid-century Italian glass. Measures 6″ wide and 2″ tall. Three rests, suitable for cigars and smaller smokes. Weighs 2.5 lbs.
