Beautiful vintage religious ashtray with real gold trim.
Made of fine hard porcelain and hand decorated with an image of Jesus with outstretched arms. On the front are the words “Rio” and “Corcovado”. The image is of the statue of Christ blessing the city with open arms. The 100 foot tall statue stands on the hill of Corcovado in Rio. In its base there is a small chapel.
On the seat are the maker’s marks for Porcellana Maua. It was a Brazilian fine porcelain maker that ceased operations in 1968. The marking below the maker’s mark date this beautiful little ashtray to the 1950s. The gold is 100% and applied thick. Measures 3″ wide.
