Description
English Hobnail milk glass ashtray and stash box set.
Made in the 1930’s to 1940’s by Westmoreland Glass, U.S.A.. Both items are marked by maker, WG embossed on the seats. Westmoreland Glass was an elegant glass maker of the early to mid-20th century, USA. The company is no longer in business.
The large ashtray was well designed in form and function. Stands on three feet, holding it above the surface preventing bottom-wear to the ashtray and the surface. Sports three long and level ramp rests accommodating large cigars to the smallest of smokes. Rest float over a 3″ deep bowl to catch and retain debris. Ashtray measures 3½” tall, 5½” round and weighs 1½ lbs. In perfect condition. Cigar shown is 5″ long.
The covered box was designed as a cigarette holder but can hold anything. The box has 3 tiny sliver chips on inner box rim, under lid. Invisible with lid on. Stash box measures 4¾” x 3¾” x 1½”, weighs 1½ lbs. The covered box is extremely hard to find.
Thick, sturdy milk glass in English hobnail. English Hobnails are flattened with four points. Normal hobnail pattern is rounded.
